Update: Deadline now reports that Kristen Stewart is in “advanced talks” to star.
After a massive franchise concludes I always find it interesting what the next move is for the lead actors involved. The jury is still out on how Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe will fare, and with Twilight, the next major tween franchise ending soon, we’ll have to see what moves the actors make. Taylor Lautner‘s choices have been lackluster with his action vehicle Abduction bombing. Robert Pattinson has the promising Cosmopolis from David Cronenberg, but what will Kristen Stewart take on?
She will lead Snow White and the Huntsman, which looks better than any of us thought, as well as the indie drama On the Road and now Twitch reports a huge tentpole she may possible jump on. It is Jaume Collet-Sera‘s adaptation of Akira, which already has Garrett Hedlund, Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham Carter attached.
If she took the role, Stewart would play Kaneda’s love interest Kei. There is also word that Keira Knightley is circling and Ezra Miller and Alden Ehrenreich are testing for Tetsuo. Having not sat through any Twilight films, I still think Stewart has talent, especially in her Adventureland role. I have no problem with her jumping on board this project
Taking place in New Manhattan, the latest version, scripted by Steve Kloves, follows “the leader of a biker gang who must save his friend, discovered with potentially destructive psychokinetic abilities, from government medical experiments.” The Unknown director will begin production early next year.
What do you think about Stewart as Kei?
