The action choreographer of such films as The Matrix, Kill Bill 1 & 2, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Kung Fu Hustle, Unleashed, and Wong Kar-wai‘s upcoming The Grandmaster is set to debut his latest directorial effort in the US this spring. Yuen Woo-Ping‘s True Legend‘s most recognizable stars, on our shores at least, are Michelle Yeoh and David Carradine, but they are also joined by Jay Chou, Vincent Zhao, Zhou Xun, Andy On, Guo Xiaodong, Gordon Liu, and Cung Le. There isn’t much story to speak of in the trailer via Apple, but you can get a strong of the vivid action. Check it out below.

Su Can’s (Vincent Zhao) respectable life is obliterated when his vengeful brother, Yuan (Andy On), returns from war armed with the deadly Five Venom Fists. Weakened but not destroyed, Su Can learns a never-before-seen form of martial arts: the Drunken Fist. Armed with this new power, he returns home to honor his family through retribution by taking on his brother in a battle to become the ultimate warrior. Packed with distinct fighting styles–including MMA, knife combat and sweeping aerial stunts– and starring martial arts legends Michelle Yeoh, David Carradine and Jay Chou.

True Legend hits theaters on May 13th, 2011.
