While shooting wrapped up this past summer, little has been known regarding what exactly the next film from Paul Schrader contains. Written by American Psycho‘s Bret Easton Ellis, we know The Canyons features porn star James Deen and tabloid queen Lindsay Lohan as we dive into sexual obsession in Los Angeles, but that’s about it.

Our first trailer has now landed and it’s a bit of surprise, as it gives us our first footage in a grindhouse style form. There isn’t too much to glean, especially considering the final product will in all likelihood not wind up looking like this, but one can check out the teaser below via the official Facebook page, put together by assistant editor on the film, Dan Shulman-Means.

Synopsis:

It’s not The Hills… THE CANYONS is a contemporary L.A. noir from director Paul Schrader, writer Bret Easton Ellis, and producer Braxton Pope about the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their 20′s and how one chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence.

The Canyons will be released next year.
