So often are release date updates filled with dreaded delays, that it’s truly quite special when a welcome surprise occurs. Such has happened with the latest film from Edgar Wright, his final entry into the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, The World’s End. While it was always set to bow mid-August in the UK, Focus Features has now moved up its US release date from late October to a wide release on August 23rd, 2013.
Now facing off against the YA adaptation The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and the horror flick You’re Next, this change should please just about everyone. Starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan and Paddy Considine as five friends who reunite for a pub crawl, we can expect the first trailer soon. Check out the synopsis and poster below for the film also starring Rosamund Pike.
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
