Released last fall, Stephen Chbosky‘s The Perks of Being a Wallflower was heralded as one of the finest coming-of-age movies of recent years. Just a few months later, James Ponsoldt‘s The Spectacular Now premiered at Sundance and, it too, was instantly well-received with similar praise being thrown around. With a new project coming about, featuring the forces between these two projects collaborating, we’d expect it to be the coming-of-age movie to end all coming-of-age movies, right? Well, not quite.
According to Deadline, 20th Century Fox has set Chbosky to direct an adaptation of Adena Halpern‘s 29, titled While We’re Young (not to be confused with the currently shooting Noah Baumbach movie). Perks star Emma Watson will be returning, playing a younger twenty-something version of a 75-year-old- woman, who, as a birthday wish, gets to return to that former age for a day. The script will come from the Spectacular duo of Michael H. Weber and Scott Neustadter, who were also behind (500) Days of Summer. As a fan of all involved thus far, check back for more details as they arrive.
