One of the more enjoyable films I saw at Toronto International Film Festival last fall was Jennifer Westfeldt‘s Friend with Kids. One can read our full text review or watch our video review and now we know when we can all see it. Led by Adam Scott and starring Westfeldt, alongside her real-life husband Jon Hamm, the cast also includes a lot of Bridesmaids players such as Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Chris O’Dowd. Megan Fox and Edward Burns also round out the supporting cast in the film following two friends who decide to have a child for purely platonic reasons as they see the marriages of their other friends deteriorate.
Roadside Attractions have now announced a March 9th, 2012 release for the film, which makes it a packed weekeend at the movies. We have the wide releases of John Carter, Playing the Field, The Raven and Think Like a Man hitting multiplexes, as well as limited releases of The Bully Project, Footnote, Jiro Dreams of Sushi and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. I’d imagine Friends with Kids would have a moderate-sized release, as it could bring in a lot of the Bridesmaids crowds, depending how they decide to market it. This is definitely for a slightly older crowd, but still offers some smart comedy to go along.
Are you looking forward to Friends with Kids?
