10 Cloverfield Lane 1

When asked which actress she’d like to talk to for a recent extensive discussion, Mary Elizabeth Winstead had only one choice: Melanie Lynskey. Proving she’s just as big a fan of her as we are around here, the two participated in a nearly 40-minute talk for The Talkhouse ranging from 10 Cloverfield Lane (which Winstead is fantastic in) to Togetherness, in which Lynskey currently masterfully portrays a guilt-ridden wife looking to mend her relationship.

They also discuss body image in media and the nightmares of self-taped auditions, while Winstead opens up about starting her career at 12 in Salt Lake City and getting her first role in Touched By an Angel (she notes she got her role changed because she was too nice). The two also touch on improvisation, including a hilarious anecdote about Winstead getting nervous on the set of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter when asked to come up with a scenario on the fly. When it’s concluded, one will want them to make this podcast talk a weekly occurrence.

Check it out below, along with another extensive talk with Winstead.
