If one looks up the term “rising star,” there’s a great chance that Alicia Vikander‘s photo will be alongside it. Following her break-out roles in A Royal Affair and Anna Kareninawe just got done discussing how she has the major studio films (The Seventh Son, The Man From U.N.C.L.E.), the romantic drama (Tulip Fever), the promising sci-fi drama (Ex Machina), the intriguing crime indie (Son of a Gun), the WWI biographical drama (Testament of Youth), and today brings news of two more major projects she will lead.

According to Deadline, she’s booked the starring role alongside Michael Fassbender in Derek Cianfrance‘s The Place Beyond the Pines follow-up The Light Between Oceans. The M.L. Stedman adaptation will follow “a lighthouse keeper on a remote island in Australia who with his wife rescues a baby they find in a rowboat and raise it as their own.” While it’s not specified, we assume she’ll be playing Fassbender’s significant other in the DreamWorks production.

Meanwhile, she’s also taken a leading role in the next film from The King’s Speech director Tom Hooper. She’ll be joining The Danish Girl, which has Eddie Redmayne playing Danish painter Einar Wegener, the first man to have a sex change operation back in the 1930’s. She’ll be presumably playing his wife and both productions kick off this fall, so expect to see much more of Vikander over the next few years, and hopefully beyond.

What do you think of her next two roles?
