Zac Efron, who has shown some surprising star power in Me and Orson Welles and 17 Again, is set to star and produced in a remake of the Swedish thriller Snabba Cash, Heat Vision reports.
Warner Bros. recently won the “heavy” Hollywood bidding war on the film based on a the hit novel by Jens Lapidus. The thriller “followed three interconnected storylines involving drugs and organized crime, with the main character a young financial wizard who hopes to strike it rich quickly by becoming a runner for a coke dealer.”
The deal, reportedly in the high six figured has a “short fuse” clause which means Warners has to get on it or the rights “revert back to the producers.” So expect to see this remake gear up pretty fast. I really think Efron has a future, unlike some of his other “heartthrob” peers. I’ll have to check out the original, but I’m definitely excited for this project. Efron is also attached to a CIA agent thriller titled Fire, but that project may get extinguished (I’m sorry).
