When he isn’t nabbing a part in the unwarranted Raging Bull sequel/prequel or Peter Bogdanovich‘s upcoming John Ledger, Tom Sizemore is attempting to vamp up his career with the new crime drama An Honest Thief. The actor will both star and executive produce the project for Polimedia Films, from a script written by his brother Aaron Sizemore, Bertie Higgins and Larry Madill.

In a recent interview with (The Playlist), Sizemore stated that, ‘We’re hoping Woody [Harrelson] will be in the movie and we’re trying to get Ryan Phillippe too. Woody is 50/50 right now and we’re going to talk to Ryan next week.’ The interesting pair, if they were to accept, would be joining Thomas Jane for the film and Sizemore, of course.

The crime drama “revolves around three petty thieves living in the Boyle Heights section of L.A., who hatch a plan to rip off a local pawnbroker and steal his valuable baseball card collection.” The pawnbroker, dubbed Honest Abe, “also happens to be a serial killer/sexual sadist, and as Abe’s world collides with the thieves, all sorts of bloody mayhem seems fated to follow.”

Although the Bogdanovich project seems pretty promising, Sizemore could benefit from a worthwhile project hitting theaters, but I’m not really sure if An Honest Thief will do the trick. The combination of Harrelson and Phillippe seems a little odd to me, and Sizemore doesn’t really help the mixture much. The story doesn’t seem all the compelling either, but Harrelson does have enough star power to possibly aid the project in some way.
