Much like what Mr. Ferrell did for Jody Hill’s The Foot Fist Way, he and Adam McKay (The Other Guys) produced The Virginity Hit, a teen comedy in the vain of Superbad, The 40-Year-Old Virgin shot in the docu-style of Paper Heart. [The Playlist]

There’s not much to say about this thing that the trailer doesn’t. It’s long and, in a euphemistic word, informative. You may not want to watch the whole thing if you don’t want to get spoiled. But then this seems like the type of movie where the individual jokes matter more than the overlaying narrative. Ferrell and McKay were/are promoting it at Comic-Con. It’s set to release into theaters on September 10th.

It seems Apatow would be proud of what Ferrell/McKay have on their hands. I smell grass-roots cult comedy in the making.
