Heading into the third act of Wedding Crashers, we got a surprise cameo from none other than Will Ferrell, playing Chazz Reinhold, an unkempt, raunchy mentor to Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. Here we are, seven years later and trio is set to reunite for a new comedy, unrelated to David Dobkin‘s film, but surely similar in tone.
Variety reports that Ferrell has joined the cast of The Internship, as a brother-in-law to Wilson’s character and a home electronics salesman, who “has no problem making inappropriate comments about his attractive customers.” While it sounds like a typical Ferrell role, it’s said to be only a small part akin to their previous film together. The 20th Century Fox comedy is to be helmed by Shawn Levy, venturing back into comedic territory after Real Steel.
Rose Byrne, Max Minghella, Josh Gad, John Goodman, Aasif Mandvi, Eric Andre and more round out the ensemble that sees Vaughn and Wilson as two forty-somethings who lose their jobs and find themselves interning for a tech company, where their old school ways (and lack of understanding of witchcraft like “smartphones,” or whatever) frequently clash with their much younger coworkers/rivals.
The Internship opens on June 28, 2013, while Ferrell can next be seen in The Campaign.
Are you looking forward to this reunion?
