It’s been 16 years since Super Troopers underperformed at the box office only to blossom into a bonafide cult classic, and now comedy troupe Broken Lizard are back with Super Troopers 2. The troupe have produced several other films since Super Troopers, including Club Dread and Beer League, but none entered the zeitgeist the way Troopers did.
Of course, a long delayed sequel to a well-loved comedy doesn’t always turn out for the best. Remember Dumb and Dumber To? If you do, I’m sorry. Hopefully Super Troopers 2 will manage to recapture the stoner comedy magic that endeared the first film to so many.
Broken Lizard’s Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske all return, along with Brian Cox, and new members to the cast include Lynda Carter and Rob Lowe. Super Troopers 2 opens 4/20/2018, because of course it does. You can watch the first trailer for the film below.
