Hell

Austrian director Stefan Ruzowitzky, helmer of the 2007 Academy Award-winning The Counterfeiters, is back with a new thriller Hell (Die Hölle), a direct and effective title. While the teaser isn’t subtitled, the film’s neon lighting, bloody imagery, and ominous siren-synths suggest a dark fable with a brutal, harsh edge.

Hell concerns taxi driver Özge (Violetta Schurawlow) who witnesses a murder, causing her life to spiral out of control as she is spotted by the perpetrator — a man who could be the serial killer that’s been stalking the streets. Paranoia, fear, and horrors ensue for Özge in this dark crime thriller set against the brooding nightscape of Vienna.
