Originally supposed to come out last year, Terrence Malick‘s newest film, The Tree of Life might in fact be making its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May. This would of course be a pretty big deal because a) Malick is one of the best living directors b) he usually takes a pretty damn long time to make his movies and c) Cannes is a usual launching point for hyperbole and buzz.

The information isn’t 100% sure though, The Playlist report seems to be more based off of speculation than actual facts. That being said, if you’re a cinephile, cross your fingers and pray every night that this is the truth.

Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life, Cannes Premiere or no Cannes Premiere, will likely open in theaters at the end of the year.

Is The Tree of Life your most anticipated movie of the year or what?
