The Man Who Fell to Earth

As fans and artists alike share their tributes to the great David Bowie following his passing earlier this year, perhaps the finest honor on the cinematic side will be arriving this fall. One of his greatest contributions to the medium, The Man Who Fell to Earth, has been restored and will be re-released in U.K. theaters for its 40th anniversary, followed by a Blu-ray and digital release, and today we have a new trailer.

Nicolas Roeg‘s classic, which follows Bowie as Thomas Jerome Newton, a humanoid alien who comes to Earth to get water for his dying planet, also features a soundtrack by John Phillips and Stomu Yamash’ta, but until now, it was never released. FACT is reporting that their original master tapes have now been discovered, leading to a 2-CD and 2-set vinyl release arriving this fall.

The Man Who Fell to Earth will return to U.K. theaters on September 9 and then arrive on Blu-ray on October 24. The CD release will also be on September 9, while the vinyl box set, also featuring a 48-page hardcover book, a new essay, notes by the film’s editor, and more, will be released on November 18.
