Joss Whedon (creator of hit shows Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer and director of Serenity) has something in store that encompasses the dreams of all comic book nerds. That something is The Avengers, scheduled for release next summer, which teams up all your favorite Marvel superheroes for one explosive extravaganza.
The Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America and Thor all received their own films in anticipation of the occasion (Iron Man got 2 in fact) and shall feature one hell of a star studded line up, including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Mark Ruffalo (replacing Edward Norton as The Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) along with numerous other famous faces such as Samuel L. Jackson, Stellan Skarsgard and Cobie Smulders.
The trailer attached to the end of Captain America: The First Avenger should officially release soon, but here is a stitched together banner for the film, showcasing all the ensemble cast. It comes from the previously released concept art and you can click for high-resolution.
You may notice the addition of the Hulk, and to see if he really does look like Mark Ruffalo, check out the high-resolution image below.
With the combination of a release date of May 4th, 2012 and an ensemble cast previously only possible in fan’s dreams, this is one big summer blockbuster to look forward to.
