After featuring a Sundance trailer before its premiere earlier this year, the sex comedy That’s What She Said got picked up for distribution this fall and now we’ve got two new looks at the film. Directed by Carrie Preston the film features Anne HecheMarcia DeBonis and Alia Shawkat as a trio in New York City who love to talk about their sexual problems and eventually get into some trouble while on a search for a vibrator and other misadventures.

After some poor reviews out of Park City, this one doesn’t look too promising. The over-the-top, forced nature of the comedy mixed with what seems like generally grating performances will have me steering clear. For a festival that produces so many films with honest depictions of women, compared to your everyday Hollywood release, this looks to be far on the other side. One can check out both the green and crude red band trailer below.

Synopsis:

Longtime best friends Bebe and DeeDee are both wrestling with love. Bebe has met someone new and is in the exuberant phase of a budding romance. DeeDee is trying to move on from someone she can’t forget—mostly in destructive ways. As Bebe waits for the perpetually late DeeDee at their favorite coffee shop, she meets Clementine, a distraught young woman with love problems of her own. With Clementine in tow, Bebe and DeeDee soon embark on the kind of outrageous misadventure that only New York City can offer.

That’s What She Said hits limited theaters September 28th.
