That was certainly fast. After Paramount and Katy Perry began early talks just a few months ago to produce a feature film based on one of her concerts, we got official word of the directors less than a month ago. Now we’ve got the first trailer and a release date. Titled Part of Me, the film will feature backstory on the pop star’s upbringing, along with concert footage and behind-the scenes, all in 3D of course.
Now, I know why you are wondering why this is being covered on the site, but having recently watched Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, produced by directors of this film, Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, I was somewhat shocked at how well it worked. With skillful editing, they were able to make the life and fame of Bieber actually interesting. If they can do the same here, for someone I have even less interest in, I’ll certainly watch it on Netflix Instant down the road. Check it out below and get ready to celebrate Independence Day by letting your colors burst with fiiiiiiirewoooorks.
Update: A full-length trailer has arrived and can be seen below:
Part of Me hits theaters on July 4th, 2012.
