It was announced just a few weeks ago that James Marsden, Thomas Jane and Billy Bob Thornton were leading David Hackl‘s latest project, Red Machine; and now, Variety reports that Scott Glenn, Adam Beach, Michaela McManus and Kelly Curran have rounded out the cast for the thriller.
The script is written by J.R. Reher and “centers around two estranged brothers (Marsden, Jane) who reconcile on a camping trip with their girlfriends. Once in the remote wilderness, however, things go horribly awry when they are attacked and relentlessly stalked by a horrifying grizzly bear — the Red Machine.” Thorton plays a “legendary bear expert and hunter”, who will inevitability save the terrified campers (I have a feeling that this part was somehow made for him).
The combination of Marsden, Jane and Thornton and these new additions bring a mix of vets and relatively unknowns. McManus has gotten some exposure on the teen melodramas One Tree Hill and The Vampire Diaries, but hasn’t really broken out to bigger budget features; whereas Curran, who only started acting back in 2009, is in Ben Affleck‘s upcoming Argo, which could boost her credibility somewhat.
Does Red Machine appeal to you at all?
