Sam Worthington, currently trying to break the record of most films attached or linked to in the shortest time possible, is now rumoured by Pajiba to have signed on to Warner Bros’ Dan Dare, an adaptation of 1950s British comic series Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future.

Originally published in Eagle Comics, Dan Dare was set in the future (the 90’s) but was very much a product of its time, in that the dialogue etc shared its style in particular with British war movies of the era. The series told of Dare, chief pilot of the Interplanet Space Fleet, embarking on adventures within our solar system; though later on in the series this would expand to deep space exploration, where he would encounter various alien races.

Last seen in 2000 AD, the series was recently relaunched by Virgin Comics with a darker take scribed by Garth Ennis, and it is thought that the film will be based on this.

The project is very much in its early stages at present, with no director or writer attached.

What do you think of a potential Sam Worthington led Dan Dare film?
