Robert De Niro is a fantastic actor, but anyone can see he has simply given up the last decade. Aside from a few respectable projects (The Good Shepherd, Stardust) it hasn’t been a pretty road (Righteous Kill, Hide and Seek). After this December’s Little Fockers, we have another to add to the list.
Timed with the announcement he will be receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes, The Wrap has learned that he will join Michelle Pfeiffer in Garry Marshall‘s Valentine’s Day follow-up, New Year’s Eve.
Glee star Lea Michele, as well as Abigail Breslin and Hilary Swank are all circling New Year’s Eve. De Niro “will play a bitter man who is dying in a hospital.” Pfeiffer “will play a secretary whose boss denies her request for a two-week vacation.” As for the Cecil B. DeMille Award, it goes well with Martin Scorsese earning it last year.
De Niro will receive the award at the 68th Golden Globe Awards which will take place January 16th, 2011. Until then, lets remember what we love about De Niro:
What do you think of De Niro these days? Has he completely lost his edge?
