Three posters for three very different movies were all premiered on the world wide web today, and instead of going about my usual opening banter, let’s get right to them.
First up, we bring you the official poster for The FP courtesy of Movies.com. The movie premiered at last year’s South by Southwest to good reviews (including my own, wink) and Drafthouse Films, the distribution arm of movie chain Alamo Drafthouse, quickly picked it up. On top of that, BadassDigest (also associated with the Drafthouse) also reported the official release date, which has been set for March 16th. It will only be limited, however; for a complete list of theaters head over to Badass Digest, and see the poster below:
Synopsis: After hometown hero BTRO (Brandon Barrera) is slain on the dance platform by trash-talking thug leader L Dubba E, his protégé little brother JTRO (Jason Trost) vows never to duel again and vanishes into self-imposed isolation. A year later, he’s located by distressed former gang-mate KC/DC (CRANK 2’s Art Hsu) and learns of the desperate state of The FP. Not only is the neighborhood in pieces; the villainous L Dubba E has his claws on Stacey (Caitlyn Folley), JTRO’s ultimate crush. There’s no other choice; our hero must return to restore order and regain the pride of his hometown. KC/ DC enlists guru BLT (Nick Principe) to school JTRO in the sacred art of ancient “Beat-Beat” technique via rigorous training sequences. Eventually, JTRO defeats enough low-ranking challengers to earn his cage match with Dubba E, and hopefully win back The FP along with the heart of Stacey. THE FP is a fury of fancy footwork, triumphant montages, and neon street wear that Moviefone calls “a rare ready-made cult hit!”
The FP sounds insane, and it absolutely is but in a tremendous way. Check it out, if the opportunity arises.
And now we transition from futuristic Dance Dance Revolution dystopias to comic book superheroes, which makes perfect sense to me (I’ve also been eating paint chips all day, so take that for what you will). The International poster for The Amazing Spider-Man was unveiled and we have it for you courtesy of MovieWeb. (That’s actually kind of funny. To me, anyway) And if you were excited by the other teaser posters in the past, I guarantee you’ll… not really be excited for this one since it pretty much looks the same.
The Amazing Spider-Man has already been microreported to death, so I won’t waste much time talking about it. We have all most likely formed our opinions on it by now, positive or negative. I still doubt the necessity of rebooting so quick, but I love Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone so I’m willing to give it a shot. The Amazing Spider-Man opens (in 3D! Yay!) on July 3rd just two and a half weeks before the superhero movie about that guy with the gravelly voice who resembles a bat. Batguy.
And lastly the latest teaser poster for Resident Evil: Retribution, the 5th in the Resident Evil movie series, has been released and we bring it to you courtesy of R0peofSilicon.
Synopsis (courtesy of Collider): The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.
I checked out of the Resident Evil franchise after the utter stupidity of Extinction but they keep making them and people keep seeing them, so I guess there’s something still here. I assume. Unless it’s nothing more than a habit by now. Either way, Resident Evil: Retribution hits theaters on September 14th.
Which poster do you like the best? Are you burned out on Spider-Man talk by now? Also, please see The FP. That wasn’t a question, just a plea.
