In his latest feature, Pierce Brosnan is once again shooting guns, running intensely, and dealing with high-octane situations. Last seen in the Roger Donaldson-directed spy film The November Man, he returns to the spy genre as an expert assassin in the upcoming thriller Survivor, directed by V for Vendetta andNinja Assassin helmer James McTeigue.
Survivor follows a State Department security officer (Milla Jovovich), who has been recently assigned to the U.S. Embassy in the United Kingdom. With amazing luck, she is forced on the run as she is framed for crimes she didn’t commit, targeted by an assassin known as The Watchmaker (Brosnan). She has to find out how to clear her name of the charges against her as well as stop a major terrorist attack that is going to strike in New York City.
From the trailer, Survivor looks to be a somewhat fun spy thriller, if a bit generic. There’s nothing groundbreaking going on here, but with McTeigue directing, hopefully there’s some entertaining action sequences. Ahead of a release this summer, check out the trailer and poster below.
Milla Jovovich stars in ‘Survivor’, a thriller about a State Department employee newly posted to the American embassy in London, where she is charged with stopping terrorists from getting into the U.S. Putting her in the line of fire: targeted for death, framed for crimes she didn’t commit, discredited and on the run. Now she must find a way to clear her name and stop a large-scale terrorist attack set for New Year’s Eve in New York’s Times Square.
Survivor hits theaters and VOD on May 29th, 2015.
