I feel dirty writing this up, as I would love to completely ignore the existence of the inevitable Transformers 3 in the world of cinema, but it’s going to happen whether we like it or not. The only thing that gives me hope is the fact that there is a minuscule chance that anyone could make a blockbuster worse than last year’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

With all the bank coming in from Avatar, which just passed Titanic domestically and now the #1 grossing film of all-time in all markets, it’s no surprise that all the studios are looking to 3D to gain some more money. Variety reports that Paramount is looking for a 3D Transformers. “There have been discussions among Bay, Paramount and Industrial Light & Magic about going 3D with the pic. The big stumbling block is the extra time required to do production and visual effects in 3D, as the movie’s release date is already set.” Their solution? Possibly add 3D in post-production ala Warner Brothers and Clash of the Titans. We will see how that works out April 2nd, but adding 3D later is not the way to do it. Avatar‘s 3D worked so well because it was carefully planned for years, not added last-minute.

It is also known that Bay is against shooting in 3D. At the ShoWest convention last year he said, “I think it might be a gimmick.” If there is one director that would do something for a larger paycheck, god knows it would be Bay. Expect to hear news soon that it will officially be in 3D.

In similar news, Warner Brothers has confirmed that all of the following films will be in 3D:

Clash of the Titans (April 2nd)
Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore (July 30)
Guardians of Ga’Hoole (Sept. 24)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (Nov. 19)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (July 15, 2011)

Do you care about Transformers 3..in 3D? What about the other Warner Brothers films?
