It’s always nice to see someone as talented as Michael Bay get significantly richer (wait, no, that’s no right). As reported in Variety, power director/producer Bay has agreed to bring his horror genre division Platinum Dunes, which he co-runs with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, into Paramount, which now has a first look deal on the low-budget production company.

Bay was quoted: “We offer a valuable service to the studio, especially with all this turmoil going on in the business right now, in that we do things cheaply, and we’ve had a lot of success with it,” Bay said. “Through the first two `Transformers’ films, I’ve gotten to know the studio very well, and I’ve got a good rhythm with them. I’m excited about this.”

Dunes’ upcoming horror remake is A Nightmare on Elm Street, starring Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Kruger. The small studio’s thing is making low-budget, high-profile scarefests. And, financially, it has worked so for. Say what you will about Bay, the dude knows how to make a buck.
