Olivia Thirlby (Juno, The Wackness) is currently shooting the sci-fi flick The Darkest Hour in Russia, but she is attached to another upcoming blockbuster in the same genre.
Variety is reporting she will play Cassandra Anderson, “the telepathic rookie who shadows” our lead, in the upcoming 3D reboot of Judge Dredd. Karl Urban (Star Trek, The Lord of the Rings) was recently confirmed as the lead.
Vantage Point director Pete Travis is directing the script from Alex Garland (Sunshine, 28 Days Later, the upcoming Never Let Me Go). I love Garland, but really hated Vantage Point so I’m hoping Travis can surprise. I love Thirlby in everything from Snow Angels to Bored to Death so this is great news.
Production on the $45 million feature begins this fall in South Africa.
