Watch the Paul Thomas Anderson-Directed Music Video For Joanna Newsom’s ‘Sapokanikan’

Written by on August 10, 2015

After providing the dreamlike narration for Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Inherent Vice as Sortilège, Joanna Newsom is once again teaming with the director. The musician announced her new album this morning (titled Divers and arriving on October 23rd) and with it came the first music video, directed by none other than PTA.

Featuring mostly close-up handheld work, Sapokanikan tracks Newsom galvanting around New York City from East to West Village (with an IFC Center cameo). For more on the album, including the tracklist and pre-order details, head over to Drag City. Meanwhile, see the video below along with all of PTA’s other music videos, including Aimee Mann‘s Save Me, specifically made for Magnolia.
