One of the most visually impressive films of the year this far is Michał Marczak‘s music-filled, Poland-set odyssey All These Sleepless Nights, so it’s only fitting he was able to bring his unique vision to the latest music video from Radiohead. Rather than a new A Moon Shaped Pool-era song, however, it’s the video for “I Promise,” one of three unreleased tracks to be included on the 20th anniversary edition of the band’s landmark album OK Computer. Featuring a passengers of a bus peering into the world, an unsettling sci-fi element creeps in, perfectly fitting for the album.
“Reality is so complicated. You can only give glimpses of images and feelings and emotions,” the director told us earlier this year. “The whole context has to actually be created in the mind of the audience. You have to treat the audience with the utmost respect because the audience is intelligent. They can combine 2 + 2 and they can create and understand something. So I think the documentary world really needs to be using all the tools in cinema and art and music that have been and new stuff that has to be invented to keep up with our complex reality to somehow get us closer to it, but without ever telling us what it is — just having us be more in tune with the now.”
