With Russell Crowe joining Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel, as Supes’ biological father Jor-El, we now know who the mother will be. Deadline reports that Julia Ormond is in talks to play Lara Lor-Van, his mother from Krypton.
Ormond joins the surprisingly stellar cast which includes Amy Adams as Henry Cavill‘s love interest, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as his human parents, and Michael Shannon as the baddie General Zod. Antje Traue plays Faora, the female villain. With Christopher Nolan godfathering the project and David Goyer penning the script, we still have no confirmation of what the plot will entail.
I’m not too familiar with Ormond’s work, but she has appeared in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button as well as the recent Sundance drama The Music Never Stopped (in which she was decent in an otherwise poor film) and the Emmy-winning Temple Grandin. Her next big role is in Simon Curtis‘ My Week With Marilyn, alongside Michelle Williams, Emma Watson, Dominic Cooper and Kenneth Branagh.
Man of Steel is expected to have a late 2012 release with production beginning next month.
What do you think about Ormond joining the Man of Steel cast?
