Through her Annapurna Pictures production company, Megan Ellison has brought forth new films from Paul Thomas Anderson, Andrew Dominik, Wong Kar-wai, Kathryn Bigelow and many more. Her next effort, however, will see her heading in a very different direction.
Following their directorial debut This is the End, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, along with Jonah Hill, will team with Ellison and Sony Pictures for Sausage Party, a new feature-length R-rated animation. While the aforementioned players will produce, they’ve set Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan to helm, after their work on the kid-friendly Thomas the Tank, Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens and Madagascar 3.
This film will follow a sausage and its quest to “discover the truth about his existence. After falling out of a shopping cart, our hero sausage and his new friends embark on a perilous journey through the supermarket to get back to their aisles before the 4th of July sale.” Considering the lack of adult-centered animation efforts, we suppose we’re looking forward to this “irreverent, insightful and risqué” project. Ahead of a 2015 release, check out Rogen’s latest appearance below, as he helps Aziz Ansari promote his upcoming Netflix special.
