Although he has unfortunately never had enough star power to claim major leading roles, Richard Jenkins has been giving excellent performances, comedic and dramatic, for a while now. He finally got a deserved oscar nomination for his performance in Tom Mccarthy‘s The Visitor, and since them he has been working non-stop. In the past 2 years, he has acted in some 9 films, and plans to continue this prolific run in 2012, having worked on 5 films that are due to release that year, including Josh Radnor‘s Liberal Arts and Andrew Dominick‘s Cogan’s Trade.

Emphasizing the notion that he really loves acting, Jenkins has signed on to take part in yet another film. This one is a comedy titled “A.C.O.D.” (which stands for Adult Children Of Divorce), which stars Adam Scott (who accompanied Jenkins in Step Brothers) as a man who has been inbetween his parent’s fights for over 20 years, and that is all set to reignite when his brother announces his marriage, therefore initiating a reunion between the bitter parents.

Jenkins will play the father, “whose uncompromising lifestyle and vehement distaste for his ex-wife threatens to destroy the wedding.” Ben Karlin (50/50) penned the script and Stuart Zicherman is directing his debut feature. Shooting is set to commence in March, so expect other casting details to arrive shortly and we’ll keep you updated. [Deadline]
