According to Deadline, British director Julian Jarrold has just been hired by Mandalay Vision to helm the upcoming indie thriller Exit 147. Scripted by Travis Milloy, Cathy Schulman and Matthew Rhodes have signed on to produce for Mandalay alongside Lenny Beckerman.
Exit 147 follows a young father, who is driving across country to see his daughter. He “is stopped by a sheriff at Exit 147, and it turns into a psychological game of cat and mouse with deadly consequences.” Unfortunately, I’m getting some flashbacks to 2001 and the Paul Walker-led Joy Ride, but that’s just because of the whole “psychological game of cat and mouse” element I’m guessing; so let’s hope Exit 147 takes a different *ahem* route.
For those unfamiliar with Jarrold‘s filmography, he directed the 2007 Jane Austen biography Becoming Jane, which starred Anne Hathaway, as well as Red Riding 1974 and one of the Kinky Boots films. It will be nice to see Jarrold returning to features, after helming mostly TV since his 2009 crime film with Andrew Garfield. Milloy will also be back in the spotlight, after his 1996 film Street Gun and most recently, Pandorum.
