Living in the United States, I can almost hear the collective groan when a studio announces a film will be in 3D, particularly when it comes to post-converted projects. But it looks like most international audiences aren’t phased, and studios are taking notice. According to THR, Paramount is looking to give Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah the 3D treatment, but not in its domestic market.

With a production pushing past the $125 million mark, the studio is providing an additional $10 million for the post-conversion, which will be exclusive to 65 international markets. They include most of Europe, Russia, and all of South America, citing strong tracking there. North America looks to be spared, with just the 2D version arriving here.

We’ll have to see if more studios take this path, which could perhaps lead to worthwhile balance of creative and financial decisions. Moving on, After all the hubbub surrounding a warring battle between Aronofsky and the studio, it’s also reported that an agreement has been found ahead of a March 28th release. As we anticipate the date, check out new stills, TV spots and an international poster below.

What are your thoughts on the 3D decision?
