We’re still awaiting word if we can expect Morgan Freeman to reteam yet again with Christopher Nolan for his sci-fi film Interstellar, but in the meantime, the actor has decided to keep it in the family, taking a role in the Nolan-produced, Wally Pfister-directed Transcendence.

Announced in a press release today, there’s no details on his role, but judging from his past work with the team, we can expect to be a wise, well-spoken figure. He joins the ensemble including Kate MaraRebecca Hall, Johnny Depp and Paul Bettany, coming from a script by Jack Paglen.

Depp leads as a scientist named Will who is murdered by anti-technology terrorists. His wife (Hall) then uploads his brain into a computer and soon enough Will is reborn in the machine and finds the ability to communicate through it, allowing him to continue conducting his research. Shooting kicks off this month and then we can see the film come April 2014.

Are you looking forward to seeing Freeman back in the Nolan family for Transcendence?
