X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn is working an adaptation of Mark Millar‘s Superiorwe know that already. Now, THR reports that Vaughn is adding a few more projects to his development slate.

Superior, a comic written by Millar with artwork by Leinil Francis Yu, follows a young boy with multiple sclerosis who gains the powers of his favorite TV superhero. This one’s in the scripting stage but there are no other clear details.

The other project sounds more interesting: Vaughn and Millar are teaming up with influential comic artist and writer Dave Gibbons (co-creator of Watchmen, with issues of Superman, Hulk, Green Lantern and Captain America to his credit… not to mention Batman Vs. Predator, which I haven’t read but sounds pretty rad) for an original comic books series, The Secret Service. Plot details are not available and are quite likely heavily guarded, and Vaughn holds not only a co-creator credit, but owns the movie rights as well.

There are no screenwriters attached and both projects and in the very early development stages, but Vaughn is expected to re-team with his First Class and Kick-Ass writer Jane Goldman. Vaughn is refreshingly outspoken when it comes to his disdain for studio projects, but with the $352 million global box-office take of his X-Men movie – a project that was famously fast-tracked once he was aboard, which accounts for the rushed-looking CGI and some of the more bafflingly pointless action sequences – Vaughn can pick and choose his next directorial effort. He’s “expected” to do something more like his first few movies as a producer (Guy Ritchie‘s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch) or director (Layer Cake), but there’s nothing concrete to support this.

Do these projects sound interesting to you? Would you like to see Vaughn return to the laddie action of his first few films?
