Kung Fu Panda director Mark Osborne is putting together one of the finest voice actor ensembles in recent memory for his next feature. According to THR, James Franco, Rachel McAdams, Jeff Bridges, Marion Cotillard, Benicio Del Toro and Paul Giamatti have all been assembled for an adapation of Antoine de Saint-Exupery‘s The Little Prince.
The film will follow Bridges as “a pilot who crash-lands in the Sahara desert and comes across a little boy who says he is a prince fallen to Earth from his home on an asteroid. As the pilot repairs his plane, the little prince regales him with stories about his home and the foolish inhabitants of nearby asteroids.” There’s also word from The Wrap that Giamatti has booked a role in Bill Pohlad‘s Brian Wilson/Beach Boys biopic Love & Mercy, which stars John Cusack and Paul Dano. The Sideways star is taking the role of his unethical therapist Dr. Eugene Landy and production begins soon.
Lastly, THR is reporting that Cameron Diaz has found a father for the upcoming comedy The Other Woman. Coming off Django Unchained, Don Johnson is set to star in the patriach role, alongside a cast that includes Leslie Mann, Kate Upton, Nicki Minaj and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Directed by Nick Cassavetes, the film finds Diaz learning she’s the titular character in an affair and then goes for revenge with the wife, played by Mann. Production has already begun in New York for a 2014 release.
