Today we have the debut looks at a trio of forthcoming films and first up is the latest work from Peter Strickland, who last gave us the acclaimed Berberian Sound Studio. While this still and poster for The Duke Of Burgundy have been floating around for some time, with the film gearing up for a likely fall bow, we’re highlighting them today. Above, one can see Sidse Babett Knudsen and Chiara D’Anna in the story of a woman who studies butterflies and moths and tests the limits of her relationship with her lover. Produced by Ben Wheatley, it looks like a compelling Persona-esque tale and one can see the poster below.
Next up, François Ozon‘s Young & Beautiful was recently released here in the states and now we have the first look at his next film. The New Girlfriend, also likely debuting at festivals this fall ahead of a November release in France, stars Romain Duris, Anais Demoustier, and Raphael Personnaz. The plot follows “a young woman who falls into depression after her best girlfriend’s death. She eventually finds the strength to embrace life after discovering an unexpected secret about her late friend’s husband.” Check out Duris in the still below.
Lastly, after finding success in 1998 with SLC Punk!, writer-director James Merendino is returning to the world with a follow-up titled Punk’s Dead: SLC Punk! 2. Featuring the return of Devon Sawa, Michael Goorjian, Adam Pascal and James Duval, Film School Rejects have highlighted the first stills for the project, which takes place 18 years down the road. Check them out below, along with the official synopsis, for the film that will likely debut next year.
18 years later, in PUNK’S DEAD, Bob is still dead, but Trish from the Bong Shop, Stevo, Sean the Beggar, John the Mod, crazy Mark and tree hugger Mike are arrogantly saving the world for another generation…or they are at least trying. Get ready to find out what happened to your favorite characters, as we take you to the pivotal events in their lives since SLC PUNK. Holding it all together will be the misadventures and observations of one of their offspring, an eccentric kid named Ross, the Spawn of Heroin Bob, who has a lot to live up to…
Which of the above projects are you most looking forward to?
