It looks like this past fall has set a new trend for Netflix’s biggest films. They’ve announced today that Triple Frontier, the latest film from All is Lost, Margin Call, and A Most Violent Year director J.C. Chandor, will be getting a theatrical release before arriving on their service. Set to debut on Netflix on March 13, it’ll get a run in select theaters starting on March 6. With the announcement and a new poster, another trailer has also arrived.
Led by Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, Pedro Pascal, and Adria Arjona, and scripted by Chandor and Zero Dark Thirty and The Hurt Locker writer Boal, the thriller tracks a black ops operation in the organized crime/drug war zone of South America. See the trailer and poster below.
A group of former Special Forces operatives (Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund and Pedro Pascal) reunite to plan a heist in a sparsely populated multi-border zone of South America. For the first time in their prestigious careers these unsung heroes undertake this dangerous mission for self instead of country. But when events take an unexpected turn and threaten to spiral out of control, their skills, their loyalties and their morals are pushed to a breaking point in an epic battle for survival. Directed by Academy Award® nominee J.C. Chandor (Margin Call, All Is Lost, A Most Violent Year) and co-written by Chandor and Academy Award® winner Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty).
Triple Frontier will hit theaters on March 6 and arrive on Netflix on March 13.
