Although the name may be unfamiliar to most, Max Nichols has directed several music videos over the years and is finally making his feature length debut with the indie rom-com Two Night Stand. Variety also tells us that Beau Flynn and Gangster Squad and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer are producing the project.
Flynn Picture Co. acquired Mark Hammer‘s script earlier this year, which was featured on last year’s Black List. The film tells the story of a “man and woman trapped in his apartment after a one-night stand because of a terrible snowstorm outside — forcing them to get to know each other far more.” Hammer will also produce, with Adam Yoelin executive producing.
As you guys may have realized, one night stands are a subject Hollywood is quite familiar with — case in point, Knocked Up as well as last year’s The Pill. Judging by the synopsis, this project seems to be a combination of the two, minus Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow‘s influence, of course.
Hammer‘s only other writing credit includes an episode of the U.S. version of Skins, so it’s hard to say if he’ll be bringing anything new to this repeated plot line, but we’ll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, check out Nichols’ directorial music video work here and his most recent video, for Willie Nelson‘s Just Breathe below.
Production is aiming to begin this fall.
