Update: Marvel confirms Bradley Cooper has officially signed on to voice Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy. Check out the original story below.
While many have lamented over the repetitive nature of superhero films as of late, one has to at least give Marvel a nod for a few of their upcoming tentpoles. Next spring will see Community and Arrested Development directors Anthony and Joe Russo taking on a Captain American sequel, while 2015 brings Edgar Wright into the fold with Ant-Man and now some unexpected casting has landed for two films in between.
James Gunn is currently hard at work on next August’s Guardians of the Galaxy, bringing together Chris Pratt, Glenn Close John C. Reilly, Benicio del Toro, the voice of Vin Diesel as a talking tree, and more. Now an even more outside-the-box choice as landed, as THR confirms Latino Review‘s scoop that none other than Bradley Cooper is in talks to voice the film’s gun-firing Rocket Raccoon. They say it’s early on in negotiations, but before he goes on to do a prestigious Clint Eastwood-directed war drama, we can think of no better paycheck to have some fun with.
Next up, after breaking out with the stellar Martha Marcy May Marlene, Elizabeth Olsen had mostly stayed confined to the indie realm with a few roles. Over the next few years, however, it looks like that is all about to change. She’ll be seen in Oldboy this fall, Godzilla next summer, and now THR has news on what will easily be her biggest role yet.
The trade confirms she’s in final talks to join Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers: The Age of Ultron, first reported by Bleeding Cool. The actress will be taking the role of Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff. For a little backstory, The character is Magneto’s daughter and the twin sister to Quicksilver, who will be played by her Godzilla co-star Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Her powers include altering reality and probabilities, which will all be revealed when the film hits theaters in May 2015.
