Although Warner Bros. is already underway with production on Zack Snyder’s new Superman movie, Man of Steel, they’ve added a new major cast member to the ensemble. Deadline reports that Ayelet Zurer has replaced Julia Ormond as Lara Lor-Van, Supes’ mother from Krypton. There is no word on why the actress has dropped out, but now Zurer will take her place alongside his biological father Jor-El, played by Russell Crowe.
Zurer has appeared next to Tom Hanks in Angels & Demons, as well as Eric Bana‘s wife in Steven Spielberg‘s Munich. She also had part in Vantage Point and will be seen in A Year in Mooring, which we liked at SXSW and Lawrence Kasdan‘s Darling Companion next year.
Plot details are still tight for David S. Goyer‘s Man of Steel script, but Zurer joined the cast including Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix, and Laurence Fishburne.
Man of Steel hits theaters on June 14th, 2013.
