Yesterday we got the poster, and in expected fashion today, the trailer has arrived. Bridesmaids, produced by comedy extraordinaire Judd Apatow, has an impressive cast of Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Wendi Mclendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy, Chris O’Dowd, Matt Lucas, Jill Clayburgh, Rebel Wilson, and Michael Hitchcock.

Written by Wiig and Annie Mumolo, the comedy is directed by Paul Feig, who has worked on 30 Rock, The Office, Arrested Development, Mad Men, Weeds, Nurse Jackie, and Bored To Death. It essentially looks like a female version of The Hangover, and quite hilarious at that. It’s also great to see Ellie Kemper (Erin from The Office) in more film roles after her brief appearance in Sofia Coppola‘s Somewhere. Check out the trailer below via Apple, and the poster if you missed it.

Synopsis: This spring, producer Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, Superbad) and director Paul Feig (creator of Freaks and Geeks) invite you to experience Bridesmaids. Kristen Wiig leads the cast as Annie, a maid of honor whose life unravels as she leads her best friend, Lillian (Maya Rudolph), and a group of colorful bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) on a wild ride down the road to matrimony. Annie’s life is a mess. But when she finds out her lifetime best friend is engaged, she simply must serve as Lillian’s maid of honor. Though lovelorn and broke, Annie bluffs her way through the expensive and bizarre rituals. With one chance to get it perfect, she’ll show Lillian and her bridesmaids just how far you’ll go for someone you love.

Bridesmaids hits theaters May 13th, 2011.

What do you think of the trailer? Will this be the next great comedy?
