While he’s currently tied up in shooting The Avengers sequel, Joss Whedon delivered a special announcement for his latest production, In Your Eyes, following its Tribeca Film Festival premiere last night. Scripted by the Buffy and Firefly creator and directed by Brin Hill, it’s been revealed that the drama is now available to stream for the next 72 hours on Vimeo for $5.
Coming from Bellwether Pictures, which was founded by Whedon and Kai Cole, their first project was last year’s Much Ado About Nothing and now they are experimenting with this new distribution method for the supernatural-tinged romantic drama. “It was always the plan to release In Your Eyes in a new and exciting way,” Cole said in a press release. “It’s no secret that the distribution landscape is shifting rapidly and there are tools at our disposal as filmmakers that we could only dream about ten years ago.”
With a cast including Zoe Kazan, Michael Stahl-David, Nikki Reed, Mark Feuerstein, Jennifer Grey, and Steve Howey, one can access the film with Spanish, German, Portuguese, French, and Japanese subtitles. So, check out the opening three minutes below for a taste, see Whedon’s announcement from last night, as well as the first two posters and synopsis below, and head over to the official site for more details.
In the frozen East Coast winter, Rebecca (Zoe Kazan) is withering away in a life of cocktail parties and lonely nights as the sheltered, soft-spoken wife of a successful doctor. Across the country in sun-drenched, arid New Mexico, charismatic ex-con Dylan (Michael Stahl-David) is struggling to find his footing and a fresh start. When these polar opposites realize they share an inexplicable connection, a unique metaphysical romance begins.
