Both John Cusack and Johnny Knoxville are no strangers to the comedy world. The duo, however unlikely or odd, will star in Josh Stern’s new film, Carnaval. Stone Village is set to produce and finance the comedy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cusack will portray a sports scout determined to find the best soccer player the world has ever seen, all the while dealing with the infamous Rio de Janerio Carnival, which happens annually. In order to obtain the agency, Cusack’s character has to sign said amazing soccer player. Knoxville will play his friend, who inevitably screws up Cusack’s chances of obtaining the agency, by sleeping with the soccer player’s girlfriend.

Stern has re-written the script, originally authored by former agent, David Styne. Among the other three, Scott Steindorff, Dylan Russell and Scott LaStaiti, Styne will also be billed as a producer.

The film is set to start filming in Rio de Janerio come January.

Until then, look out for V for Vendetta director James McTeigue’s rendition of The Raven, which will star Cusack and be released in March of next year. Knoxville will also be seen alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in Jee-woon Kim’s 2013 release, Last Stand. If you are in the mood for more soccer-related films, Playing the Field starring Gerard Butler hits next spring.
