Ian McShane will be going on the fourth Pirates adventure, THR reports. He “will play legendary pirate Blackbeard — whose real name was Edward Teach — who piloted the ship Queen Anne’s Revenge.” McShane joins Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz in the Rob Marshall-directed Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The film’s story “revolves around the Fountain of Youth” and will NOT have Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley in it.
I’ve seen a few episodes of Deadwood and McShane is simply bad-ass. He will play a great villain. With Penelope Cruz and him joining, I’m much more interested in this fourth entry. I hated At World’s End, but found Dead Man’s Chest to be pretty fun.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is shooting in Hawaii this summer and will be released on May 20, 2011.
