“It’s the very definition of a thriller, from the mysterious locale to the unpredictably tumultuous events containing no hope of survival,” we said in our TIFF review of Alfonso Cuarón‘s Gravity. The film, which has seen acclaim since its Venice opening, has been praised for its technology advancements, and we agreed, saying, “This is the evolution of filmmaking, a retread concept made, like most technological achievements, infinitely better, putting you in the action like nothing else.”

One can now see some more of the action, as Warner Bros. has delivered a batch of new stills from the space thriller. Also included is a behind-the-scenes peek at the technology our director created (detailed here) to properly convey the mechanics of Sandra Bullock and George Clooney being in space. As hinted in these photos, we have to agree with our review, which says, “As Avatar showed 3D’s potential, Gravity gives IMAX’s all-encompassing size true kinetic purpose. Do not wait for the Blu-ray: this must be seen on the biggest screen possible.” Check out the official photos in the embedded album below.

Gravity opens on October 4th.
