Unlike the recent American vision of Godzilla, the Japanese interpretation of the scaly beast does not seem to be inadvertently protecting humans. The new foreign trailer for Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi‘s Godzilla: Resurgence features the massive, dark-green monster crushing buildings and anything else in his path over choir music. Mini-guns, tanks, and small arms are no match for the beloved beast; they seem to bounce off him like gnats. This will be Toho’s first Godzilla film in over a decade, making it a milestone for that alone. Whether it will surpass Gareth Edwards‘ recent feature, not to mention the countless Japanese visions before it, remains to be seen.
