If only to capitalize on the marketing tied to the warm summer temperature, 20th Century Fox has decided to shift the release of Paul Feig‘s Bridesmaids follow-up, The Heat. Previously set to bow alongside the 3D re-release of Jurassic Park on April 5th, the studio has showed some confidence in the project, giving it a prime summer release date of June 28th.
Starring Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock, the R-rated film will now square off against Kick-Ass 2 and Roland Emmerich‘s thriller White House Down, a smart move which will hopefully connect with those seeking out a strict comedy. Check out the official synopsis below for the film also starring Demián Bichir, Marlon Wayans and Michael Rapaport, as well as the three separate trailers if you missed them. [ERC]
Uptight and straight-laced, FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) is a methodical investigator with a reputation for excellence–and hyper-arrogance. Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy), one of Boston P.D.’s “finest,” is foul-mouthed and has a very short fuse, and uses her gut instinct and street smarts to catch the most elusive criminals. Neither has ever had a partner, or a friend for that matter. When these two wildly incompatible law officers join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected: buddies. From Paul Feig, the director of “Bridesmaids.”
Are you disappointed about the 2.5 month delay for The Heat?
