My Week With Marilyn continues to master the art of the tease with a first look of Harry Potter star Emma Watson in 1950s attire just weeks after the producers first tantalized with a glimpse of indie darling Michelle Williams gone old-school Hollywood glam.
Watson, who wore a wig for the role, plays Lucy, a love interest in the biopic, which is based on the memoir of Colin Clark, the personal assistant to Laurence Olivier while he shot The Prince and the Showgirl with Marilyn Monroe. Eddie Redmayne, who infamously enacted an incestuous affair opposite Julianne Moore in Savage Grace, will star as the unlikely confidant of the doomed ingénue, while Kenneth Branagh will play Olivier.
This will be the first live-action feature Watson’s appeared in beside a certain film series about witches and wizards, and the film’s producers are happy to have her. Harvey Weinstein gushed to Daily Mail, “‘For ten years she has been this schoolgirl in the Harry Potter films and now you see her as a woman for the first time….She has an elegance about her … plus she has a gift for comedy and drama, and we’re just starting to see her range…I feel we’re going to work together a lot in the future.’
High praise from Caesar. Good show.
My Week With Marilyn is currently in post production, and is expected to hit theaters in 2011.
Are you looking forward to see more of Watson outside of Hogwarts?
